Description

Hot, it's so very hot. While the rest of the world is covered with snow in the spirit of white christmas. Here in Adelaide, it is bathed in a burning 36 degrees heat and sunshine, even the beach is scorching...I yearn for the soft cool breeze of spring.

This painting consists of many of my "first times" :
First time drawing scenery with no reference...i think i took longer drawing the scenery than the girl...
First time I didn't use many layers
First time i made my own custum brushes for texture
First time i mixed colours, and picked much more saturated colours

It was wonderful experience playing around wiith all those colours and brushes! Hope you guys like it!

Pose refrenced use for the girl from a tiny picture in a magazine

hey small
long time no see
so that is why
lovely natural colors
great scenery
and that chin is not that obvious ( a lil more meat under it will solve it i think )
oh and the trees on the left side of the pic (our left :) ) they look unfinished where they go in the ground.. no body can be seen and its a bit empty..

+9

This is really nicely done! Love the colours. Her pose is great and teh material is done fantastically. I wouldnt have noticed teh chin if you hadnt said anything lol, but now that you have I would actually just shave a bit off the bottom rather than meat it out. Excellent work

Hey Daequitas, you are right... i seemed to have erased off that tree trunk, man, my pc screen is so very dark, i didn't even notice! thanx for pointing it out!

Andy--Jones, do u mean making the chin less prominant? i should give it a try, maybe it would help. Thanx fo the advice.

And guys who commented, thank u very much for commenting, i appreciate it very much! *bows*

not so much that its prominant to me, more that the underside of her chin maybe a bit to much. I would try and make it thinner. But to be honest I dont think it really makes much difference as it is wonderful as it is. Like I said, if you hadnt pointed it out I wouldnt have noticed haha.

P.S I just LOVE her legs and especially the way they show through the material.

Well done! I really love the lightning. The grass makes me want to walk through it barefoot as well =). Great details.

Katea, i know exactly what you mean, i had the same feeling too, but i didn't know how to make her more subdued without taking away the white on green look...maybe i should have went for a greyer white?

once again! thanx to all you guys who commented and voted. you guys made my day brighter!

I really like the pattern details on the girl's dress and how the dress is delicately transparent. This picture sort of takes one very far away from this world, the scenery is picture perfect almost too perfect in some ways. (sorry serenity) Though that could be a reflection of the mood of the artist. :p

oh yeah, I really like the depth of the colour in her hair

wow! this grass looks so soft and beautiful! one can really feel it! and her dress! (thumbup) beautiful image

i´m just thinking.. maybe it could "bring the image more together" if some of the colors of the surroundings were in the figure and some of the colors of the figure were in the surroundings.. like a little touch of green in the shadows of the folds of her dress.. but only a very little touch (i wouldn´t use grey though, since your colors are overall very bright and beautiful)

very dreamlike atmosphere.. *picks a yellow flower too* :)

wow your first time steps really pay out :p its great ^--^

i can imagine her dress weaving in the wind, is that strange? xD

i think its very good to look at...the colours are enchanting...but you made her feet a bit to big:)
her upper part looks very delicate and sweet but her feet are a bit more..masculine so to speak:)
overall i like it a lot;)

The top of the head is too close to the eyes imo, it should go higher up, and maybe extend the forehead a bit more.

Great work!
